Her favorite parts of her wish were snorkeling, fishing, going to the spa, making a new friend and eating great food. She was pleasantly surprised to see that the fish and coral look as bright and beautiful as they do in pictures.
When asked, Kelsey said she would tell Make-A-Wish donors “Thank you for the generosity in your hearts. I am very grateful and blessed to be granted this wish.”
Her parents wrote in a letter:
As a family, we were encouraged to dream… having dreams was something we had forgotten how to do. Hope and healing started with our first meeting with the wish granters to just brainstorm what Kelsey wanted. After so many months of worry and pain, it was fun on a cold winter’s afternoon to let go and watch Kelsey imagine doing all the things she has dreamed… mostly involving sunny beaches, warm sand spa treatments, deep sea fishing and exploring the ocean environment.
Snorkeling in the pristine coral reefs amongst a menagerie of colorful fish as well as sharks, eels and sea turtles was surreal. Our evening fishing expedition and trip to a remote island village were equally as magical. Kelsey caught a variety of fish… the barracuda being her favorite.
We have truly been blessed to be given this opportunity to explore, to rest and to heal as a family. How powerful dreams are that give you hope and healing! Thank you Make-A-Wish!!
