Jared's LEGOLAND® Wish

Jared, 9, suffers from Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy and his one wish was to visit LEGOLAND®. This story is probably best told from Jared's point of view.

I have so much to be thankful for from my Make-A-Wish trip.  Everyone was so kind and smiled a lot. They take very good care of the kids and their family. The pancakes were so good we had them every day. I didn't have to think about my disease very much on my MAW trip.  I just felt like I was in a dream that I didn't want to end.

My chest started to hurt when we go close to LEGOLAND.  I told my Dad that I was having a heart attack, but he said I was just super excited to finally be here.  I saw many Legos that I do not have but would like to build some day.  Every where I looked there was something cool to see. I kept smiling during my day at LEGOLAND. I should work there some day.

I have always loved animals so Sea World was fun.  I could touch the stingrays.   They are smooth and slimy. We went to the dolphin area.  They gave us a bucket of chum to feed the dolphins.  The dolphins knew what to do and came right up to the wall for some chum.  The dolphins are smart.  I wish I could have one as a pet, but Dad said our tub isn't big enough. They let us sit in the front row at the Shamu show and we got really wet.  It felt good because it was a hot day.  I liked the penguin ride and turtle show.  Animals make you feel good and happy.

Our family is really big race fans. My Dad has taken me to races since I was two years old.  We got our own tour of Daytona International Speedway.  I have seen it on TV but we got to see the whole thing.   It would be fun if my Dad could drive me around there some day.

The space ships and things at Kennedy Space Center were interesting.  Many things there were the ones they really used in space. I don't think I would want to take a space ride, but maybe drive the Moon space buggy on Earth.

At Magic Kingdom, we watched the Christmas parade.  They made it snow on Main Street.  Many Disney characters were in the parade. I liked the music and seeing all the happy people.

Universal Studios was our last stop.  They had fun 3D rides. I liked the Transformer Movie ride the best.  The Despicable ME and Buzz Lightyear rides were fun too.  I rode three roller coasters with my Dad. The Harry Potter roller coaster made me scream and grab my Dad's leg.  I had some yummy ice cream before we left the park.

I have dreamed about these places for a long time and looked at them on my computer.  I had hoped we could visit some of these places some day.  I still cannot believe we took this trip. Thank you everyone for making me feel happy and special.  My next wish is for me and my Dad to help out some other Make a Wish kids have a special trip.

-Jared, 9
