Season of Wishes 2015 Sets Record
Make-A-Wish Maine is pleased to share the results of its largest fundraising campaign of the year, called Season of Wishes. Nearly $160,000 was raised thanks to support of businesses and individual across the state. This greatly exceeds the organizations goal of $105,000 and sets a record for the most ever raised ever during this 12-year-running campaign.
“The outpouring of support and commitment from donors new and old shows just how generous Mainers are,” says Rebecca Leaming, Make-A-Wish development manager. “Major thanks go out to FrankFM and 99.9 The Wolf for their 12-year partnership and efforts to share our mission, and VIP Tires and Service for their record-breaking paper star campaign which raised nearly double last year’s total.”
In addition to donations made by radio listeners and businesses, many events were held around the state to raise funds for the campaign. “Event organizers of The Old Village Inn Christmas Ball, Norton Lights, Nonantum Ice Bar, Parade of Lights, Wrap for a Reason and many, many more spend countless hours coordinating events. What’s most special of all,” says Leaming, “Is that they do it year after year.”
When asked about what this record-breaking campaign means to Maine kids facing trying diagnoses, Program Director, Kate Vickery, says, “Currently more than 90 Maine kids with life-threatening illnesses await a wish. These funds will grant nearly 22 of these wishes.”
